ABOUT THE CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of financial markets and investment management gained through investment and/ or risk-based roles;
  • Appreciation of risk, and how risks can be mitigated;
  • Measured and sensible approach when dealing with senior professionals;
  • A good sense of integrity and a demonstrable approach to discretion recognising that they may periodically be in receipt of sensitive information.
  • A high level of numerical and analytical skills such that the individual can collate, interpret and analyse portfolio, risk and performance data. Prior experience in working with large data-sets would be advantageous.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Investment Oversight Manager you will get the opportunity to support in the oversight of individual portfolios managed by aIIL and its branches. Individual portfolios include those that invest in the following asset classes: Equities, Fixed Income, Multi-Asset, and Real Estate.
Whilst you will be supported by members of the global organisation, via the provision of data and analytics, you will get to deliver independent analysis, insight and challenge for aIIL’s book of business.
You will get the opportunity to work closely with investment teams to ensure that the client objectives are met and ensure that any issues are escalated and resolved appropriately.

Key Responsibilities

  • With reference to both regional and central oversight frameworks, implement the oversight model for the individual portfolios managed by the Irish firm and its branches.
  • Support the local CIO function in discharging its fiduciary responsibility through the provision of reporting, insight and challenge on portfolio management activities in the relevant portfolios.
  • Ensure client and regulatory expectations of risk taking within portfolios are being met and confirm whether outcomes are consistent with these expectations.
  • Contribute to formal assessments with the portfolio management teams, including reviews within their locality. Provide robust and credible challenge on the individual portfolios.
  • Undertake risk-based reviews and checks in key areas of the investment process, including idea generation, portfolio construction, and pre- and post-trade analysis.

The Investment Oversight function in abrdn are responsible for formally supporting senior management and internal boards/committees through the provision of independent analysis and assessment of the quality and efficacy of investment outcomes and processes. The role is focused on three areas:

  • Oversight of portfolio management activities ensuring the application and efficacy of investment processes;
  • Working in partnership with the investment business, generate actionable insights to enhance investment processes;
  • Review, summarise and prioritise key issues for reporting and/or escalation to key stakeholder
