Description:

This incoming hire will produce equity research on Investment Trusts (UK-listed Closed-End Funds), including reports on individual funds, cross-sector comparisons and thematic research.
The role will have a particular focus on funds investing in global equities, with scope to support research on infrastructure, property and debt funds. This research is produced for consumption by our external research clients.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Demonstrable interest in global markets, macro-economics and portfolio management
  • Strong literacy skills and clear motivation to write equity research reports
  • Competency in MS Excel
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills, ‘can do’ attitude
  • Excellent attention to detail and disciplined organisation of work

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • University degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge or close awareness of the Investment Trust sector Knowledge of Morningstar, Bloomberg and/or Refinitiv functionality
  • Experience in building/maintaining financial models
  • Advanced Excel user (VBA) or programming languages

Responsibilities:

  • Attend meetings with investment trust portfolio managers, gaining insight to be used in the production of equity research reports for distribution to external clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Write equity research reports on both individual funds and broader sectors (i.e. UK equities, Emerging Markets equities etc.), utilising quantitative and qualitative information and providing sector/market context
  • Analyse and summarise key Investment Trust news for our Daily Briefing each morning
  • Closely monitor developments in global markets and investigate areas of potential client interest to contextualise research and determine topics for future reports
  • Respond to client queries or data requests.
  • Prepare board meeting reports for corporate broking clients.
  • Help to manage our research portal (www.winterfloodresearch.com), client database (including CRM system) and social media presence (LinkedIn)
  • Contribute to maintenance of the NAV estimate system supporting the trading floor
  • Support the wider team in a variety of tasks
