We are looking for a a Post Doctoral Researcher to perform research activities and deliver service in the Beam Delivery and Development group at TRIUMF. The successful candidate will join projects and identify activities that allow for ion or electron source developments and the creation of new beams.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Understands ion and electron source principles and is able to apply them to straightforward trouble-shooting and operational situations.
  • Performed research in the field of ion sources for 3 years and is able to run these systems with limited supervision.
  • Sound knowledge in area of expertise including, electron and ion beam production, beam cooling with radiofrequency quadrupole devices, beam physics, etc.
  • Ability to write clear test plans, design notes and publications and to present results on conferences or workshops.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires a Ph.D. in physics (received within the last 5 years)
  • Typically has 3 years of professional experience with electron or ion sources or beam physics.

    Salary Information: $55,000 - 70,000

Responsibilities:

  • Performs research primarily on the TRIUMF CANREB Charge State breeding system.
  • The work is focussed on but not limited to highly charged ions production but can also extend to electron beam production.
  • Provides support for student focussed R&D within the TRIUMF Beam Delivery and Development Group.

  • Set-up, support and troubleshooting of related systems
