Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a skilled and motivated IoT Engineer to join the client’s data science and software development team. The primary focus of this role will be designing and developing a robust platform to integrate lab equipment. This platform will provide a standardized interface for controlling devices and exchanging data, which will be utilized by their Laboratory Execution System (LES) to enhance the digitalization of laboratory operations.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Proven experience in designing and developing IoT solutions
  • Proficiency in Python and JavaScript programming languages
  • Understanding of threading, multi-processing, and asynchronous programming
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation protocols (e.g., MODBUS, RS232, USB, TCP/IP)
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and message bus technologies (Kafka, ActiveMQ)
  • Experience with writing automated tests (e.g., Pytest)
  • Understanding of network topologies and technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Fluent in English and Dutch
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or other regulated industries is a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document platform requirements
  • Map the ecosystem of lab devices and associated communication protocols
  • Translate requirements into a software architecture (with support from a senior software developer or architect)
  • Build communication modules to integrate lab equipment with the IoT platform for device control and data acquisition
  • Develop an IoT platform to establish a standard interface between the LES system and various lab equipment
  • Conduct extensive manual and automated testing (unit, integration, end-to-end) of the platform and communication modules
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for the IoT platform and device integrations
  • Create comprehensive documentation, including platform design, user manuals, and maintenance procedures
