Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Iron Tester will work with the Maintenance and Operations teams to schedule and plan annual iron testing. This role will conduct various tests and analyses to ensure all pressure pumping equipment meets industry and Magnum standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform annual iron testing on all Magnum high pressure pumping units, as well as all auxiliary high pressure treating iron.
  • Rebuild valves, chiksans, positive displacement pumps and pressure relief valves.
  • Maintain certification system.
  • Work with crews to complete annual iron testing in an efficient manner.
  • Operate air driven fluid pump to pressure up treating iron to test pressure.
  • Perform station/unit audits to verify banding, chips, iron inventory (loose iron in station) etc.
  • Coordinate Mag Particle and thickness testing for plug loading heads and other treating iron as required.
  • Coordinate and support the Parts department utilizing centralized iron ordering.
  • Replace and/or repair damaged iron as required.
  • Collect and organize out of service iron to salvage or recycle useful parts.
  • Assist with incident ingestion and root cause analysis.
  • Audit systems to ensure compliance.
  • Adhere to and enforce company safety policies and ensure compliance with HSE legislation and DOT regulations.
  • Support the Operations and the Technical Services team as required.
  • Keep the shop and yard clean, including floors, washrooms, coffee rooms, and clean/wash bay.
  • Put parts and tools away in identified storage locations.
  • General assembly work that may require operating automated machinery and various power/hand tools.
  • Travelling to various stations as required.
  • Participate in training and development activities.
  • Other related duties as required.

Qualifications - Required

  • Driver’s license (non-graduated) with a clean driver’s abstract/record.
  • Physically capable of moving/lifting heavy objects up to 23 kg., bending, standing, and climbing repeatedly for extended periods.
  • Computer literacy, record keeping and ability to build out reports and procedures.
  • Able to perform all regular maintenance on equipment.
  • Familiar with operating and maintaining automated machinery, hand and power tools.
  • Maintenance knowledge, mechanically inclined, and the ability to troubleshoot.
  • Legally eligible to work in the country the role is based out of.

Qualifications - Looking For

  • Experienced in the use of MS Office and/or other software tools.

Qualifications - Assets

  • Knowledge of pressure ratings of temporary piping systems and treating iron.
  • Able to identify hammer union types.
  • Ability to operate a Magnum cement pumping unit.
  • NDT Trainee/Certification
  • Hydro Testing Experience
  • Previous experience in shop environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with rebuilding treating iron components and other cement pumping equipment components.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement.
