Description:
Under the general direction of the Unit Director this position requires a high degree of maintaining computer applications in the Surgical Division, meets surgical information technology development needs and acts as a resource to Surgical Services division for system development, data capture, charge capture and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain surgical blocks for in cooperation with the Administrative Operating.
- Manage the design and data capture of surgical information for patient care, statistical generation and charge capture.
- Monitor the IS system to assure maintaining of standardization of information to insure consistency in data reporting.
- Work with purchasing and the People Soft to maintain updated inventory and cost information.
- Rotation to Harmar Outpatient Center on an as needed basis.
- With direction, assists with requests from Administration, and Finance related to surgical performance addressing volume, costs, trends and budget analysis.
- Provides ongoing, hands-on troubleshooting, support and maintenance of current & future production applications including a 24/7 on-call coverage when appropriate for surgical IS functions.
- Ability to interact with physician offices, OR scheduling and core team leaders to assure current preference cards are available/updated & correct charges assigned for all cases.
- Responsible for the education of staff for computerized documentation. Development of educational plans as well as staff education analysis for upcoming IS applications.
- Ensure data maintenance and integrity for: inventory, charges, procedures, and block utilization.
- Monitor the charge auditors; works with Patient Billing to ensure accurate and current CDM information.
- Protect the integrity and confidentiality of all information, obtained, utilized and reported.
- Must interact with patient billing and finance to assure the accuracy of charges and the maintenance of the OR inventory associated with costs.
- Responsible to assure department meets all HIPPA guidelines.
- Maintain current industry knowledge and trends to insure delivery of IS products are current and updated.
- Provide service to interface with the ISD staff in accordance with systems development and integration.
- Maintain the OR procedure file.
- RN with a strong interest and focus on information systems.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills are important.
- Current working knowledge of surgical IS systems and recent clinical surgical experience.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Act 34
- Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
