Job Description:
The Senior Applications Developer provides Technical Analyst support within the DHHS N-FOCUS Expert System team. The Expert system team provides development, maintenance, enhancements and production support for the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) N-FOCUS Application. The Expert system is an AION Business Rules application, based on object-oriented development principles. N-FOCUS (Nebraska Family Online Client User System) is an integrated system that automates benefit/service delivery and case management for more than 30 Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) programs, including Child Welfare, Aid to Dependent Children, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and Medicaid.
Job duties
Supporting the full life cycle of all phases of application development and testing for a large complex computer system. Coding in Aion, an object-oriented Language. Working with relational databases, including logical design, understanding of physical design components, and complex SQL accessing a large, complex application database. Service Portal Ticket system, and Workfront. Development of Technical Designs. Work well within a team environment and have exceptional collaborative skills.
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering or other related field and two years of experience, education, or training in computer applications. Work experience in an Information Systems and Technology career job can be substituted for education on a year for year basis. Proficiency in writing code in object-oriented language.
Preferred Qualifications: Aion experience a plus but not required, DB2, Microsoft (MS) SharePoint, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, and Service Portal ticketing system, & Workfront.
Other: Regular and reliable attendance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Senior Applications Developers are responsible for all phases of development and maintenance on assigned projects under limited direction, communicates with business analysts to determine system requirements, independently researches system enhancements and problems; Performs analysis and design of computer applications; performs programming and testing; performs related work as assigned. Manages small-to-medium projects or components of larger projects. Senior Applications Developers works directly with various levels of business and technical staff to determine sound technical solutions for business requirements. Senior Applications Developers performs production support for a large, complex application and can resolve problems in constrained timeframes.
