Profile
The IT Business Analyst – Data Analytics serves as a vital link between business data analysts and the data platform analyst. This role involves translating business requirements into technical deliverables, ensuring adherence to data governance policies, and aligning data-related work with business value. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of both business processes and technical data solutions, with excellent communication and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaison Duties: Act as the primary liaison between business data analysts and the Data Platform Analyst, facilitating clear communication and understanding of requirements.
  • Requirement Translation: Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications for data solutions, ensuring they are actionable and feasible.
  • Data Governance: Ensure adherence to data governance policies and best practices throughout the data lifecycle, from data acquisition to delivery.
  • Alignment with Business Value: Align data projects and initiatives with business goals and objectives, ensuring maximum value is delivered to the organization.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize data analytics projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Data Analysis: Conduct data analysis to provide actionable insights that support business decision-making.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for requirements, processes, and deliverables.
  • Facilitation: Facilitate meetings and workshops to gather requirements, provide project updates, and resolve issues.
  • Project Monitoring: Monitor the progress of data projects, identifying and addressing potential risks or issues to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in data analytics and business analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director, Enterprise Application Services & Strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years proven experience as a Business Analyst in a data analytics environment or similar role.

Skills

  • Demonstrable experience in defining and implementing data governance and data management principles.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms, specifically Microsoft based architectures (i.e. Synapse, Fabric etc.), and data lake architectures.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as PowerBI.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data security best practices.
