Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

FDM Group is looking to hire an IT Networks and Firewall Infrastructure Engineer.
You will work within a global team of IT engineers, ranging from 1st Lines to 3rd Lines, who play a crucial role in supporting FDM’s customer base and infrastructure across the globe.
You will look to evergreen the infrastructure and improve practices where possible.
The successful candidate will need to ensure they are competent enough to handle all duties and responsibilities from start to finish as they will be the last line of technical support for the business. They will also need to be comfortable working in a team and solo, as the work entails group and solo projects.
The role is based in UK Leeds. However, there are multiple sites across the globe. Travel will be part of the role to ensure all offices are equipped IT wise to maintain business as usual.
Whilst you will be reporting to the Director of IT Infrastructure, you will also work closely with the Director of IT Projects and both the Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer.
Experience and adept skills in firewalls, networks and infrastructure are crucial for the role as the role will encompass an array of IT technologies which will be used to ensure FDM stays up to date and protected.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Provide 3rd Line support both remotely and onsite within the business, predominantly within the EMEA time zone /region where necessary.
  • Provide cover for other regions out of hours while working your local time zone. (Follow the sun model).
  • Be an escalation path for the 1st / 2nd line analysts.
  • Establish, build and grow relationships with internal FDM staff through effective communication, consistency and the provision of a highly professional service.
  • Ensure work is carried out in line with FDM policies and practices, especially important for projects.
  • Liaise with 3rd party providers/suppliers as required.
  • Technical documentation creation and review
  • Maintain and administrate firewalls and network infrastructure (Palo Alto, Cisco, Meraki).
  • Configure all elements of Firewall and Switches.
  • Design, architect and strategize for Firewalls and Networks.
  • Procure IT hardware and software in accordance with FDM procurement processes, necessary for projects.
  • Ensure IT assets are managed and audited.
  • Carry out regular field visits to other sites, and any new sites being established; be it temporary or permanent.
  • Technical vetting for change control process, ensuring all changes follow FDM’s Change Control Process and are submitted to the Change Advisory Board.
  • SCCM/Intune/Group policy adept experience.
  • Providing network support to WAN and LAN networks spanning on premise and cloud.
  • Completing hardware implementations, upgrades and repairs.
  • Investigating technical problems, whereby a solution and root cause analysis are needed.
  • Cloud skills in Azure/AWS.
