Job Description
General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada has an opening for an IT Maintenance Technician to work with our Medium/Heavy Lift Helicopter (MHLH) program team. This is a long term support contract for the maintenance and support of the Maintenance Training Suite (MTS) for the Department of National Defence. (DND)
The MHLH MTS Team conducts daily maintenance operations on the MTS; this includes classrooms, training system, training aids and interactive display system. They carry out detailed maintenance tasks and support training requirements as defined by DND course configurations. The team will conduct integration activities as new MTS build baselines are made available.

This position is based on-site at Garrison Petawawa where the Chinook Maintenance Training Suite is located. If you were in the role today, here are some tasks you would be working on:

  • Perform daily start up and/or shutdown activities of Classrooms
  • Perform maintenance on all Classrooms computer that could include:
  • Hardware, Software, and Networking.
  • Perform repairs, updates and troubleshooting of Classrooms, tablet computer system that could include:
  • Networks, Communication paths, Hardware, Software, Courseware, Control systems.
  • Assist with other support activities for all MTS equipment.
  • Record all issues and work completed in Gold system of record.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with both internal and external guidelines.
  • Perform support activities required to maintain a safe and secure work environment.
  • Maintain datasets for serials and track configuration changes.
  • Prepare and update daily usage calendars.
  • Work in Tool room:
  • Handing out tools and parts to students.
  • Maintain accuracy and control of the tool inventory.
  • Manage received inventory (POL, POU, Consumables, MTS spare parts).
  • Support DND training:
  • Assist with Hangar configuration.
  • Prepare Back shops as required for upcoming courses.
  • Perform administrative tasks:
  • Update Daily usage log sheet. (Classroom, IDS, and TS)
  • Update forecast Classroom, IDS, and TS usage.
  • Research and order supplies/parts.
  • Develop, write or up-date documentation i.e. Work Instructions.
  • Research and compile data for monthly report to Boeing.
  • Complete documentation as required to support the MTS operations.
  • Participate in team audits to ensure maintenance requirements are met.
  • Conduct annual training requirements. (WHMIS, ESD etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technician Diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Available for evening shifts and/or on call as require or assigned.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
