Description:

IT Manager Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain all network hardware (servers, firewalls, routers, switches, Wi-Fi access points, printers, scanners, computers, etc.)
  • Maintain desktop phone systems for primary offices (Milwaukee and Madison) in conjunction with service providers
  • Manage company-supplied cellular devices (phones, MiFi devices, tablets, etc.) along with associated contracts.
  • Manage subscriptions for all software used company-wide (Google, Microsoft, Box, Adobe)
  • Work with the individual company leaders to ensure any other software required for specific needs (OneSite, Entrata, ComputerEase, CreateACheck, Paycom/ADP, etc.) will work with our existing systems and not limit future IT growth plans.
  • Ensure that we have an inventory of available equipment for sudden hires or to replace equipment that fails.
  • Oversee the IT Helpdesk (whether this is an outside firm or an in-house employee) to ensure that the desktop support needs of all employees, both in our main offices and at our remote locations, are handled satisfactorily and in a timely manner. (Currently, employees at remote locations are instructed to contact the Help Desk via email to seek help with the most common issues, such as passwords, printers, scanners, internet, etc. While people in the main offices contact the IT manager directly for help.)
  • Manage the registration of all domains owned by the company (including ones for individual properties).
  • Work with the construction team to ensure new properties are set up with appropriate internet connections for the office and any community space or resident access and provide the proper hardware used in these installations.
  • Work with the property management team to ensure any existing contracts for internet, phones, local support, etc., are not duplicated services and that their coasts are in line with the current market.
  • Work with the development team to ensure any potential new sites will be capable of critical services such as high-speed internet access and sufficient cellular signals.
  • Work with those involved in onboarding and offboarding of all new employees to ensure they have the appropriate hardware and software access they need and that those same things are removed from employees upon their exit from the company.
  • Continually work to expand my knowledge of innovations in IT that could benefit the company. Meet regularly with potential new vendors and our existing ones to ensure we are getting the best services and that we are getting them at reasonable prices.
  • Continually assess potential security risks or flaws with our systems and employee’s interactions with them
