ABOUT THE TEAM AND THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity to join an IT Team within a growing business embarking on Transformational IT change over the next 24 months
The ORL IT Team is a small but mighty team delivering new systems, keeping the lights on and supporting our colleagues with their daily tech needs
This role sits within the Programme Management function in IT, working on various projects from large cross-functional initiatives to smaller pieces of work such as integrations and enhancements
You will be part of a team of other Project Managers, Programme Managers, Business Analysts and Architects who collectively work together to ensure the successful delivery of our pipeline of work.
We are looking for a highly motivated IT Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution and delivery of a wide range of IT Projects including key initiatives for the department
The successful candidate should be able to manage both data related & IT projects using agile and waterfall delivery methodologies depending on the project type
A key part of the role is building strong relationships at every level across business stakeholders, third-party suppliers and internal teams, ensuring confidence and trust in how their projects are being delivered
The role has overall responsibility for delivering assigned projects following the IT Delivery Framework. They lead and are accountable for every stage of the project, from Initial Project request, through to Design, Delivery, Go-Live & Closure
As an experienced Project Manager, they are expected to provide coaching and mentoring to junior members of the IT Project Community

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day execution of assigned projects and work packages
  • Produce comprehensive project documentation, reports and updates to be shared with key business stakeholders and third party suppliers
  • Coordinate and manage internal project resource and external third parties / vendors ensuring a good working relationship is developed
  • Assist Business Leads & Sponsors in the definition of Project Business Cases including objectives, visions, benefits and more
  • Ensure business requirements are fully understood working with project stakeholders and business analysts where necessary
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project budget using appropriate governance controls
  • Perform active RAIDD management across assigned projects to minimise the impact of risks, issues and dependencies
  • Work with IT Architects to ensure project designs are in place, signed off and follow the architectural principles in place
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyse the successful completion of short and long-term goals
  • Run key project meetings including Project Boards & Steering Meetings to ensure updates and steer is given when needed
  • Ensure business change management strategies are produced for the successful launch of new systems and changes into the business
  • Provide detailed service handovers to the IT Service Team with agreed processes and acceptance into business as usual Include any line management responsibility

Who you are

  • Proven experience of delivering multiple projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment using both agile and waterfall methodologies
  • Ability to flex Project Management approach to support strong governance and controls on larger projects, and greater agility and flexibility on tactical initiatives that may require a more hands-on style
  • Budget and financial management including tracking project budgets, raising POs, working with third parties on SoWs
  • A calm and effective approach to problem solving
  • Solid organisational skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Strong self-awareness and people management skills (Project Resource) with the ability to plan and organise project resource to achieve project objectives and targets
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to handle difficult or sensitive situations
  • Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and understandable manner to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to prepare and present slide packs including the ability to present to senior stakeholders and sponsors
  • A strong sense of ownership over projects with the ability to to follow tasks through to completion
  • A strong understanding of the importance of business change management and the ability to work with business stakeholders and internal teams to ensure projects have change strategies in place
  • Ability to interpret business requirements at a high level where business analysts may not be available
