ABOUT US:
Networks and Hosting manage and maintain existing IT infrastructure, which underpins most services across TfL. The Storage Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the full technical ownership of TfLs underpinning storage environment.
The team are becoming more involved with Cloud and HCI (Hyper- Converged Infrastructure) and Cyber Security related storage solutions, and projects like the Storage Tech Refresh programme.
Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
You will be accountable for the technical ownership of the Storage Infrastructure including: management, investigation and resolution of Incidents of the supported services. This is to maximise system availability for critical business services in accordance with the agreed service levels.
MAIN DUTIES:
- Ensure Storage systems are highly available, and implementations are fit for purpose.
- Liaise with customers/requestors directly as required.
- Accurate and timely reporting of the state of the technical environment using monitoring and reporting tools, rectifying any operations that are running outside of their normal state.
- Ensure all HW, SW and service configuration elements are recorded correctly.
- Plan technical changes.
- Implement patching and upgrade activities, to ensure that the technology remains compliant and fully supported.
- Migrate workloads to contain capacity management trigger points.
- Identify and deliver potential areas of improvement to technology or process, with particular focus on, standardising and automation to reduce manual effort.
- Work with other technology colleagues and teams to deliver project outcomes. Including;
Technical Delivery Managers, Infrastructure Architects, Product Managers, Project Teams.
