POSITION TITLE: IT Stategic Sourcing Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:

The IT Strategic Sourcing Specialist supports procurement of IT hardware, software, and services and IT vendor and contract management. This role will work closely with the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) teams to help implement strategies that maximize value and drive cost reductions while creating process improvements and ensuring risk mitigation.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4+ years of experience in Procurement; scientific research or higher education institutions preferred. Familiarity with Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) required. Experience with Uniform Guidance (UG) a plus.
  • Knowledge of various IT Network and infrastructure related technology (Audiovisual Conferencing, Physical & Data Security, Networking, Switching, and Wireless) is a plus
  • Knowledge of software license and SAAS agreement terms and conditions is a plus
  • Experience in managing spend categories and related workflows, processes, analyses (e.g., total cost of ownership), and risk assessments.
  • Strategic mindset coupled with the ability and willingness to support various sourcing activities and continuously improve the status quo.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills. Strong negotiation and project management abilities, including working in cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in modern procurement and ERP systems. Experience with Jaggaer/Sci-Quest and Workday ERP is a strong plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Preferred certifications: CPM, CPSM, PMP, and Lean Six Sigma.
  • This is an on-campus position requiring 4 days per week working onsite from our La Jolla campus.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategically source and procure IT goods, services, and equipment, ensuring proactive engagement and alignment with Scripps Research’s specific requirements.
  • Independently procure a diverse range of complex IT hardware, software, and digital services essential for meeting contractual, sub-contractual, or internal organizational requirements, with minimal oversight.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders to align with their needs and priorities.
  • Collaborate with the P2P and Supply Chain teams to achieve the team’s overall vision, mission, and objectives.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions, resolve disputes, and ensure contractual compliance, while building and maintaining positive working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and effective communication at all levels of the organization.
