ABOUT US
The Network and Hosting Team at Transport for London are responsible for the end-end management and 24x7 support of all I.T. services for Transport for London. This is a multi-technology team, focusing on Platform technologies including databases, the OS layer and the underlying network including AWS and Azure Cloud infrastructure. The team interfaces with all areas of the organisation, consisting of c31k users.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- To establish and document the non-functional service requirements for any new or changed services and represent these at all project gateways to assure that these requirements are being delivered.
- Establish and document the service acceptance criteria that a project must achieve prior to being accepted into BAU operation.
- Ensure that all changes are assessed and managed in accordance with the various Contracts TfL has with third parties and that all changes comply with the mandatory standards and security requirements.
- Ensure and assure that for each change the appropriate technical and operational documentation is produced, assured, and deposited in the TfL data room.
- Update the business and service catalogues as necessary for a new or changed Services. Work with the Technical Delivery Managers to assure the design and implementation of any new or changed service and ensure that the service functional and non-functional requirements are documented with appropriate test cases.
- You will lead from a Service Design perspective for any technical change, engaging with the technical teams to ensure that options analysis, proof-of-concepts, and system impact assessments have been completed satisfactorily for the entire life cycle of the Service not just the delivery stages.
- You will work directly with the operating business, product, and project managers to understand what the end user is seeking to achieve and convey key messages of service design and success to the technical teams.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across the Directorate, Suppliers and TfL operating businesses.
You will communicate and present your projects to a range of stakeholders, seeking approval/guidance/feedback as required.
Knowledge:
Service Management toolsets and processes.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes (desirable)
- Able to systematically define and implement service strategies and support models.
- Able to produce informed design principles and communicate these coherently to a wide variety of specialisms.
- Analytical skills and the ability to deliver clear design and strategy artefacts based on a wide array of information
- Skilled at translating design principles into contractual agreements and requirements.
- The ability and confidence to successfully input into the delivery of Technology and Data initiatives.
- Understanding of Infrastructure technologies and able to review High- and Low-Level Designs and able to identify risks, concerns and issues.
SKILLS: (ESSENTIAL)
- Strong business administration skills to maintain process documentation\requirements.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications
- IT Service Management qualifications required, such as ITIL and its practical application in large organisations.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure services and cloud computing service models, such as SaaS, PaaS, IaaS.
- Highly experienced in planning, organisational and analytical skills, in an enterprise IT environment.
- Must have a proactive and problem-solving attitude and adapt communication style depending on the audience.
- Must have experience in Stakeholder Management and ability to engage at all management and technical levels.
- To have the confidence and capability to challenge decisions and ways of working in order to benefit the Network & Hosting Service Tower and the customer experience
EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrable experience of supporting negotiations both internally and with third parties
- Proven experience of technology and IT services
- Proven experience of maintaining Service Management processes in a large organisation would be beneficial.
- Reconciling data to assure accuracy against contractual obligations.
- Proven experience of challenging the status-quo
Responsibilities:
As a Service Strategy & Design Lead you will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of Transport for London’s IT infrastructure initiatives and projects –some recent projects include new Photocard (Oyster) Expanding the Contactless Network, transitioning Greater London Authority infrastructure and many more.
The SS&D lead will be called upon to ensure services are delivered to agreed standard, quality, and performance as per the Service Design, approved Service Model, and Service acceptance criteria. independently, however will join a team of SS&D Leads, all of whom are assigned to multiple projects with Network & Hosting related service introductions.
