GENERAL SUMMARY

The purpose of this job is to serve as a technical resource for a department, court, and/or elected office or the County. Troubleshoots, analyzes, diagnoses, and identifies solutions to technical issues. Provides training on software and hardware use. Depending on assignment, may configure applications, oversee the work of vendors, analyze data, develop custom reports, maintain tools or systems in support of business needs, and oversee inventory.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 6 months + training beyond High School
  • 3 to 5 years of related work experience troubleshooting and resolving problems experienced by end-users
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities

Responsibilities:

  • Works with end-users to provide competent, reliable, and effective technical support for hardware and software-related issues; escalates issues to the next level as necessary.
  • Performs software, hardware, and other peripheral configuration, installation, repair, and maintenance for end-users.
  • Documents requests, monitors progress and tracks problem resolution; identifies patterns of failure, research bug fixes, implements solutions, and communicates with management regarding unresolved problems.
  • Creates and maintains various types of documentation such as user manuals, computer operational procedures, and technical documents.
  • Creates and manages Active Directory objects including user accounts, workstation objects, security and distribution groups, organizational units, network printers, and group policy objects.
  • Performs installation and maintenance of network and telecommunication cable infrastructure, support structures, and terminations.
  • Analyzes enhancements and changes performed by other Information Technology staff concerning core applications, as well as department-specific applications and Windows operating systems.
  • Performs related work as required.
