Thorn SDS is a niche Managed Service Provider, based in Alton, Hampshire, who are committed to enabling technology organisations and professionals to thrive within the Space, Defence and Security sectors.
We are currently recruiting for a number of IT Support Engineers to work on a critical defence project in the Corsham area.
You will be responsible for supporting Windows-based systems, managing legacy server environments, and facilitating the transition to a cloud-based infrastructure. These are hands-on roles which span SFIA Levels 1 to 4 Engineering support (SFIA Levels of responsibility), providing opportunities to engage with a wide range of IT challenges in a secure and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
THE ROLES WILL INVOLVE:
- Providing comprehensive IT support for Windows-based systems, ensuring optimal performance and uptime
- Managing and troubleshooting legacy server environments, addressing hardware and software issues promptly
- Supporting the transition from legacy servers to cloud-based infrastructure, contributing to planning, execution, and ongoing maintenance
- Resolving technical incidents and service requests across Level 1 to Level 4 support, ensuring timely resolution and excellent user satisfaction
- Monitoring system performance, implementing updates, and maintaining compliance with security protocols and defence standards
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of cloud services with existing systems
- Documenting procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps to support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
- Adhering to strict confidentiality and security guidelines, maintaining compliance with defence regulations
- Participation in a 24/7 on-call rota to ensure continuous operational support and timely issue resolution.
