Description:

Jackman Eye Institute is looking for a part time Surgical Assistant for 1-2 shifts a week (with the opportunity to become full time in the future). We are a busy office with a focus on ensuring a smooth and pleasant experience for our patients undergoing eye treatments. The focus is for our patients to feel welcomed, be comfortable and feel confident while receiving high-quality, life changing vision care.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in surgery through setting up the operating room, preparing instruments, transferring patients, opening and handing the proper instruments to the doctor and providing patient care
  • Preparing patients for surgery through cleaning eyes, dressing and prepping them for surgery, checking medical conditions and administering preoperative drops.
  • Operating all equipment used during cataract surgery (i.e. phaco machine, autoclaves etc).
  • Maintaining sterile fields through utilizing proper sterile techniques and sterilizing instruments.
  • Ensuring proper documentation of patient records and tracking intraocular lens selection through our EMR system.
  • Performing post operative patient calls to ensure patient recovery and to review post operative instructions.
  • Assisting in maintaining an ordering supplies.
  • Working efficiently with patients, doctors and other staff to attain a pleasant working environment.
