Description:
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position is responsible for the Criminal Justice employment processing of applicants for all certified positions assigned to the Division of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. This position may be assigned to process non-certified candidates.
This position will conduct thorough review of applicant information (application, previous employment documentation, DCI background check, military discharge documentation) to ensure that the applicant is eligible for employment in a Criminal Justice and DPS policy/standards. Any additional documentation that may be needed from the applicant shall be requested. This position will contact applicants and schedule for the Criminal Justice (CJ) processing appointments.
This position must obtain fingerprint and DCI Operator Certification as well as be a Notary Public. Requires the ability to run, read, and interpret a thorough DCI background check.
This position must also administer pre-employment testing, contact medical vendors as needed, consult with managers and subject matter experts on complex issues, and respond to a wide variety of questions from applicants and work location managers.
Responsible for calling out approvals to hire and obtaining start dates from work locations. This position requires close interaction with HR staff and managers with Juvenile Justice. Maintains applicant hiring records in Smartsheet, and internal spreadsheets.
Responsible for high volume work and the ability to meet deadlines to help ensure critical vacancies are filled in a timely manner. Failure to process applicants in a timely manner and/or failure to conduct a thorough review of the applicant’s record may result in a public safety risk as positions are not filled or Criminal Justice functions cannot be performed. Will handle other projects as assigned.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Normal business hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm. Applicants must be willing to use a state vehicle to travel to various work locations to process candidates.
TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION, APPLICANTS MUST DOCUMENT ON THE APPLICATION THAT THEY POSSESS ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Demonstrated experience processing Pre and Post Employment paperwork for examination and review.
- Experience reviewing paperwork for errors and missing information.
- Experience working with databases to track applicant and position information.
- Documented experience planning and organizing workloads under strict deadlines.
Management Preferences:
- Knowledge of OSHR policies related to employment.
- Knowledge of Criminal Justice Standards requirements for Certified Juvenile Justice Job classes.
- Knowledge of Juvenile Justice, a Division of the Department of Public Safety.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources or relevant field from an appropriately accredited institution and 1 year of experience required;
OR
2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources;

equivalent combination or education and experience.
