Description:

The Employment Division of Key Industries currently has an exciting opportunity for a Job Coach to join our team. A Job Coach must be a mentor eager to support their clients, liaise and network with employers and other community support agencies. You must be able to discover people’s strengths and abilities and translate them to strategies to make the workplace accessible. Having communication skills partnered with critical thinking are prerequisites for this job to assist your new employee interpret the workplace and successfully meet their employer’s expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop effective job coaching and employment plans
  • Communicate with clients, their support system, and their employer to ensure all needs and expectations are being met
  • Assist clients to discover and overcome their personal barriers
  • Assess the strengths of individuals and teach them to use them effectively
  • Guide clients in learning to complete job tasks
  • Help in the development of motivation and skills
  • Assist people with disabilities in practicing acceptable social and life skills in the workplace
  • Advise on workplace accommodations for people with disabilities
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of clients
  • Keep records and documentation and prepare appropriate supports
  • Work well independently while communicating strongly with your team
  • Ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate manner
  • Ability to set, as well as demonstrate for your client, clear and appropriate working boundaries

Requirements

  • Experience working with people with multiple and complex challenges, specifically Social and Communication Disorders (i.e. Anxiety disorders, Autism Spectrum disorders)
  • Two years of post-secondary education in a related field or experience working as a Job Coach
  • Current Criminal Record Check and Social Development Enhanced Check
  • MUST have a valid driver’s license to be able to travel to various work sites as needed
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving ability
