Purpose of the role:
You will lead a sales team of eight within the identified geographic area, meeting all strategic and business objectives. This role will require leadership in the deployment, development and coaching of team members through successful adaption to local market conditions.
Business objectives
- Responsible to meet and exceed sales and profit targets for your geographic area, delivering outstanding business results. Build strong business plans, using expert knowledge of the customers and marketplace challenges.
- Execute strategic imperatives, aligned with global and EMEA, strategic directions. Implement pricing policies and commercial strategies across all accounts. Execute on key EMEA Marketing strategies to include the successful roll out of new products and innovations.
- Maintain and develop firm business relationships with KOLs and other strategically important clinical and economic partners. Develop specific clinical programs with key customers to provide added value and drive sales from a non-direct approach.
- Fully understand financial and non-financial objectives of our business strategic plan, aligning this into an area business plan that is appropriately deployed at Territory Manager level.
- Maintain knowledge of competitors’ products and strategies in the local market using market analysis results to develop local marketing and business plans. Maintain accurate forecasting to control inventory and ensure customer demand fulfilment.
People management and development
- Responsible for building, mentoring and maintaining a highly effective team that encourages performance perfection, participation, personal and organisational growth. Responsible for recruitment, management, training & ongoing development of all team members.
- Plan & implement sales targets for individuals that will allow the region to meet its targets, with particular focus on key products & technologies that will drive future sales.
- Develop talent pipeline and have an active “bench” of potential candidates for purposes of succession planning across the organisation. Build development plans that will equip individuals with skills needed for future development.
- Encourage and support individuals to develop and realise their full potential in the pursuit of territory and objectives. Consistent local day to day mentoring support.
- Ensure effective coordination of sales & clinical activities for the area to meet the business objectives. Incentivise team members to improve sales growth.
- Supervise the sales teams’ activity to ensure appropriate time spent in the accurate target accounts that will enable business objectives to be met in line with agreed national key performance indicators.
- Ongoing assessment of your team to ensure they have the vital skills to fulfil existing roles, ensuring relevant training and development plan in place to upskill gaps identified. Take ownership for business focused regional meetings and training.
QUALIFICATIONS
Who are we looking for?
- Degree level education in Scientific, Business, Life Science or Medical Areas
- Extensive experience and strong track record in sales and marketing (preferably in the MedTech / Ophthalmology sectors)
- Involvement in several assignments that demonstrate the development of key leadership skills, preferably projects lead on marketing and or commercial assignments.
- Experience within the Ophthalmology environment would be an advantage.
- A team player and entrepreneurial problem solver with the ability to mentor, guide and develop others to reach their potential, achieving business results.
