Job description
Urban Life Solutions (ULS) has an exciting and immediate opportunity for a hands-on and experienced Journeyman Automotive or Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team in Calgary. Reporting to the Fleet & Facility Manager, this position will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing and providing repairs to our fleet.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Demonstrating high safety standards and safe work practices at all times
Working in accordance with ULS policies and procedures
Working within a team to assist in the management of repairs
Troubleshooting and servicing Ford 150s-750s, Heavy Wreckers, Tow trucks, Deck trucks, Highway tractors, highway trailers, Excavators, Wheel loaders, Skid steers, Wide area mowers, Sanders and Snow plow equipment in a shop environment or in the field, as required
Utilizing manuals and diagnostic programs to perform work duties
Working with Supply chain to ensure consumables are in stock
Maintaining and tracking work orders online
Utilizing mechanical lifting devices and winches
Utilizing Hydrostatic tools and equipment
Ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the shop
Conditions and Characteristics
Working within both indoor and outdoor work environments; ability to withstand cold and hot temperatures, dusty and noisy work environments
Mechanical Aptitude
Considerable standing, walking, squatting, pushing/pulling, grasping, lifting and reaching
Some climbing, sitting and driving
Manual and finger dexterity as well as eye-hand and foot coordination
Ability to perform tasks involving heavy lifting/carrying of items up to 50lbs
Basic/Required Qualifications
Valid Journeyman Automotive or Heavy Equipment Technician
Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Driver’s abstract will be required for verification upon hire)
Can supply own tools
Ability to read and comprehend work orders
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage tasks in a timely and efficient manner
Demonstrated willingness to learn and succeed
Ability to take direction and work independently as well as part of a team
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with computer maintenance programs
Experience utilizing SharePoint
First Aid Training
Hydraulic experience
Diesel engine diagnostic experience .
Schedules : Tuesday to Friday
Summer – 2pm-12.30am
Winter – 4pm-2.30am

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity

Pay: $38.00-$44.00 per hou
