The City of Calgary Composting Facility is a $143 Million- dollar facility that opened its operations on July 18th, 2017. It is located adjacent to the Shepard Waste Management Facility, south of 114th Avenue and 68 Street SE.

JOURNEYMAN MILLWRIGHT PROFILE:

We are seeking a commercial or industrial Journeyman Millwright to join our Maintenance team in Calgary to cover the Sunday to Wednesday shift (10 hours per day). Reporting to the Maintenance Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for and not limited to:

  • Troubleshooting, repairing, testing, cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining all plant facility assets, rolling stock, equipment, and tools.
  • Performing scheduled, emergency and preventative maintenance plans for all facility assets all plant, equipment, and tools.
  • Collaborate across a team of maintenance and operations professions demonstrating outstanding leadership, teamwork, and performance execution.
  • Participates in training to become fluent on all facility assets infrastructure and equipment to perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance activities.
  • Inspect jobs and determine the nature and extent of repairs, methods, materials, tools etc. so that job is performed in accordance with acceptable safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Validate blueprints and consults with Maintenance Manager regarding all regulatory, safety and manufacturer standards and requirements.
  • Recommend system and parts modifications, repairs or replacement changes in materials and improvements in methods to the Maintenance and Operations Manager.
  • Attend monthly Health and Safety meetings and participates in site inspections.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Journeyman/journeywoman Millwright with 3-5 years related experience.
  • Superior mechanical, pneumatic, power transmissions, hydraulic and fabricating skills.
  • Experience with heavy equipment, electrical and HVAC systems.
  • Welding skills is considered an asset.
  • Able to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and expedite repair.
  • SCADA and PLC knowledge is considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
