Job Summary
The Journeyman Millwright is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of automated machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role involves working with mechanical systems, robotics, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to ensure efficient and smooth operation of automated production lines. The Millwright will collaborate with engineering teams, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and adhere to safety and compliance standards to maintain optimal functionality of automation systems.
Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, and align machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on automated systems, including robotics, conveyors, and PLCs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair machinery to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production operations
  • Dismantle machinery to remove defective parts and replace them with new or repaired components.
  • Test and calibrate machinery to ensure it operates at optimal performance levels.
  • Integrate new equipment into existing automated systems, ensuring compatibility and efficiency
  • Provide technical support and expertise in the operation and maintenance of automated systems.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in automation and robotics.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address machinery-related problems and improve overall efficiency.

Education, Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a millwright, with a focus on automation and control systems.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or certification as a Journeyman Millwright.
  • Additional certifications in automation, robotics, or PLC programming are a plus.
  • Experience working with PLCs, robotics, and automated production lines.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in programming and maintaining PLCs and other control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as specialized equipment.
  • This role require the ability to work shift work- days, evenings and overnights.
