Description:

Teraflex Limited was established in 1979 and is part of the OEC Group of Companies. Our services include power distribution, overhead and underground electrical services, communications system utility infrastructure, civil infrastructure, directional drilling, electrical substation maintenance, switchgear and transformer installation, street lighting and demolition work.

REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Journeyperson Powerline Technician status
  • Infrastructure Health & Safety Association (IHSA) Trades Training Program - Powerline Technician is an asset
  • Direct work experience as a Powerline Technician
  • Valid Class DZ or AZ drivers license is an asset
  • Proficient in the use of equipment associated with Powerline trade
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the Powerline Technician position
  • Able to perform the essential duties in all weather conditions
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
  • Demonstrated experience working with required tools
  • Well versed in the IHSA Safe Work practices guide and Electrical Utility Safety Rules
    Physical Demands:
    Must be able to perform the physical demands of the position’s work tasks.

These include but not limited to:

  • Working outdoors and in confined spaces
  • Moving equipment and/or materials
  • Frequent climbing and frequent lifting
  • Must be able to safely lift loads of 30 lbs.
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Working in all weather conditions (cold, heat, rain, snow, wind etc.)

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This position will be accountable for constructing, maintaining and troubleshooting underground and overhead distribution lines and equipment. The individual is also responsible for working in a safe and efficient manner that promotes a safe work environment.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Work in compliance with all health, safety and environmental legislations
  • Install and maintain poles, structures, transformers, regulators, sectionalizers, capacitors, switches, reclosers and cutouts for power lines; install conductors and associated apparatus using single, three and multi circuit construction methods
  • Perform assigned capital and maintenance work, and installation, troubleshoot and restore electric power during emergencies
  • Build, operate, and complete overhead and underground work on energized primary and secondary systems
  • Install various types of metering equipment
  • Analyze drawings and sketches to determine safe operating practices
  • Organize and lead crews when required, and complete all necessary reports as required
  • Understand and operate motorized vehicles and equipment, such as radial boom derricks, aerial devices, tension-stringing equipment and portable generators, and perform inspections and report on defects
  • Attend training as required to update and review knowledge
  • Perform on-call duties and is expected to be available to perform emergency work during outages and storms
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
