Description:
JOB SUMMARY
As a Junior CNC programmer / operator, you will be responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs used in the manufacturing of aluminum curtainwall components. You will play a critical role in translating engineering 2D and 3D CAD designs to CNC programs to produce high-quality parts. Included in this position, you will provide manufacturing optimization, prototyping, and testing of new products and tools used in the creation of the CNC programmed components. Troubleshooting issues in the shop floor and assisting the machine operators in the setup of parts programmed.
RESPOSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Utilize advanced CNC programming techniques and CAM software, including multi-axis programming techniques to manufacture parts from stock aluminum materials.
- Optimize programs(s) to minimize cycle times, reduce setup requirements, and maximize machine utilization.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of CNC operators.
- Assist in part set-up when required and provide guidance to operators for all programmed parts.
- Program, set-up and perform changes/adjustments on the machine using CAM software.
- Work with plant supervisor to ensure orders are processed in accordance with daily production schedule.
- Read and interpret technical documents / blueprints.
- Monitor machine operation and troubleshoot where necessary.
- Adhere to all company policies and participate in all health & safety initiatives
- Perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Successful completion of accredited college diploma in CNC programming or 5 years work experience in CNC Programming in the Curtainwall industry.
- 5 Year(s) Experience in programming 5 Axis CNC Machines.
- Work experience in the curtainwall industry is considered an asset.
- Work experience with Elumatec / Haas machines\software is considered a strong asset.
- Knowledge of principles of CNC programming, set up, operation and maintenance.
- Experience with set-up of cutting speeds, depths, and feed rates and to position tools in relation to work-pieces.
- Completion of courses in CNC Programming is considered a strong asset.
- Extensive knowledge of CAD/CAM software is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to read technical specifications and documentation and interpret CAD design drawings/blueprints.
- Experience with performing quality assurance tests using high precision tools (Tape\Caliper\Gauge) to ensure products meet design specifications.
- Organized with excellent time management and problem-solving skills. Excellent detail-orientation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to adhering to safety regulations and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Incumbent must have a willingness to learn and further develop their skills.
SKILLS
- Proficient in CNC programming languages, such as G-code, M-code.
- Extensive knowledge of CAD/CAM software, including Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor, Elusoft and Esprit.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and cutting parameters.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience with CNC machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities to work in cross-functional teams.
