We are seeking a proactive and entrepreneurial Jr. Electrical Designer (EVSE) to play a key role in supporting the growth of our team in meeting the demands of EV charging infrastructure in British Columbia. This role requires technical expertise related to all aspects of the EVSE electrical design.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Electrical Engineering Degree or Technologist Diploma from a recognized university, college or technical institution.
- Eligibility or registration with EGBC or ASTTBC.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience working in an electrical engineering environment as co-op, EIT, or junior tech.
- Must be personable and effective in client and stakeholder interactions.
- Strong English language skills (verbal and written), ability to develop strong business relationships and act in a professional manner.
- Valid Canadian passport and residence in British Columbia is strongly preferred.
- Class 5 Driver’s license.

Responsibilities:
- Design, specification and drafting of all aspects related to electrical scope for public DCFC and L2 stations, including but not limited to:o Underground and overhead medium voltage electrical distribution infrastructure (4kV – 25kV),o Medium voltage equipment such as transformers, switches, circuit breakers and other devices,o Low voltage designs such as service conductors, control panels etc.
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of and ensure compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), and other relevant design standard and best practices.
- Maintain familiarity with relevant BC Hydro ES55, ES54, ES53 standards.
- Use of distribution design tools such as AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, CYME, CYMCAP and MS Office.
- Electrical studies such as load flow, voltage drop, fault studies and arc-flash in medium and low voltage distribution systems using CYME.
- Ground grid and step and touch analysis.
- Design and construction coordination with customers, contractors, electrical inspectors, municipal authorities, utilities & various project stakeholders.
- Knowledge of electrical permitting requirements and processes for municipalities across BC.
- Continuous improvement of design methodologies and internal systems.
- Conduct comprehensive site feasibility studies for potential EV charging locations.
- Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies in EV charging infrastructure, incorporate best practices into project designs, and propose deployment of new technology where appropriate.
- Site visits at design and construction stages, perform field reviews on behalf of the project engineer of record.
- Project estimating and material take-offs.
