NEW YORK UNIVERSITY PRISON EDUCATION PROGRAM - COLLEGE-IN-PRISON PROJECT COORDINATOR

Assist faculty director and associate director of NYU’s Prison Education Program with daily operations of degree programming at Wallkill Correctional Facility. Duties include:

  • Coordinate Department of Corrections clearance paperwork - new volunteer approval and trimester updates (TB, Webex forms)
  • Support Course Materials production for incarcerated students - course reader development and ordering books and supplies each trimester
  • Assist with printing, copying, sorting, and addressing communications to students, including regular transcript download, enrollment and course materials letters, student homework assignments, and other messages for distribution at Wallkill
  • Organize hard and softcopy materials for annual AA and BA application and interview processes
  • Create required documentation for Wallkill (Commissary schedules, DIN rosters, etc) in various hardcopy and softcopy formats
  • Create accessible student hardcopy resources for the NYU library (book lists, NYU major guides, request forms, etc.), including Bridge and Cont Ed materials.
  • Support with documents, including scanning and copying student artwork for installation, Mailing copies of CW&P and GR to student families, Scanning and copying student diplomas and mailing documents and regalia to families, etc
  • Support the annual Graduation ceremony: supplies, WSQ logistics, vendors, and communications.
  • Filing external transcript and records requests- - GED/HS Dip for new students, college transcripts for BA students, and obtaining and sending hardcopy and official.
  • NYU transcripts externally on request
  • Update new cohort information from Applications and maintain degree audits and academic record-keeping in collaboration with SD.
  • Process student name change requests and data corrections
  • Manages transportation logistics and communications for faculty and staff traveling to Wallkill

Formal and informal evaluations will be used, including regular check-ins and one-on-one meetings with supervisors, provision of regular feedback on progress and goal areas, strategizing areas for improvement, and troubleshooting emerging challenges.
The job duties for this position are highly local in nature and require onsite presence to be performed.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is $18 - $26. When extending an offer, New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant.

  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
