Description:

TE HAEATA/THE OPPORTUNITY

We are recruiting for a judges’ clerk for Te Kōti Take Mahi o Aotearoa | the Employment Court of New Zealand.
The location of work (Wellington or Christchurch) and starting date are flexible and the successful candidate’s preferences will be taken into account.
The successful candidate will enjoy the challenges of undertaking legal research for the Employment Court Judges, writing legal opinions, being responsible for particular areas of work, reviewing draft judgments, keeping up to date with the law and liaising with legal publishers as required.
The role may suit someone in the early part of their legal career or who is returning to work after a period away from legal practice. The Court would be prepared to consider transitionary part-time arrangements for an appointee in, for example, the final stages of their study or who is returning to work after a period of parental leave.
Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone with an LLB who has an excellent academic record, and communication and research skills. They must have a high level of integrity. An understanding of employment law is desirable, but not essential. The position requires good computer literacy and an ability to work under pressure.
No candidate will meet every single desired qualification. If your experience looks a little different from what we have outlined and believe you can bring value to the role, we’d love to hear from you!
