Description:

We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Junior Staff Accountant in BALTIMORE, Maryland. You will be a key part of our finance team, contributing to a wide range of accounting tasks and ensuring accuracy and efficiency in our financial operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure sufficient supporting documentation for vendor payment requests and enter account codes into the Accounts Payable (AP) system.
  • Review invoices and account coding for accuracy and compliance with established policies.
  • Address and resolve discrepancies with vendors and staff as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate vendor records in our financial systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules to support the annual financial statement audit.
  • Process Accounts Receivable (AR) as needed and keep track of outstanding balances, following up on overdue accounts.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and reconciliation of the general ledger.
  • Support the budget process by gathering data, preparing worksheets, and assisting staff and leadership with information.
  • Manage the staff expense report function, including distributing statements and assisting staff with preparation.
  • Provide customer service by answering questions from subgrantees and vendors regarding payments.
  • Take on special projects as needed.
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role
  • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Experience with Bank Reconciliations
  • Understanding and experience with General Ledger management
  • Familiarity with Journal Entries preparation and posting
  • Experience with Month End Close processes
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
