The Junior Accounting Analyst plays an integral part in supporting the Controller and requires a detailed-orientated professional with strong analytical skills.
As the successful candidate, you will work with our Controller to prepare financial statements and reports. You will analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement to prepare associated reporting. In addition, you will support the maintenance of the general ledger as you record journal entries and reconcile accounts. One of your key responsibilities will be to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies and accounting standards.
You will participate in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations as required and you will work closely with other departments to gather necessary data to provide financial insights. Your collaboration with the finance team and other co-workers on special projects will enable us to improve financial processes, cost management, and operational efficiencies. You’ll also provide support in the implementation of controls and procedures and administrative support as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post secondary education in Accounting/Finance, with desire to continue professional development and education
  • Previous experience working in Accounting/Finance
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and other financial software/tools
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Knowledge of insurance industry operations and regulations considered an asset
