Purpose: The Satellite Applications Catapult (the Catapult) works with and helps to grow businesses of all sizes across the UK Space Sector. We have an awesome opportunity for a dynamic team player to join the well-established National Space Capabilities and Clusters (NCC) Team. We lead on creating a thriving and collaborative UK Space Ecosystem and are seeking a Junior Analyst to help drive our vision forward. The Junior Analyst is responsible for supporting Ecosystem Growth with robust research and analysis tailored to user needs to support evidence-based decision making. If you can assist on delivering data-led tools to support the Ecosystem and help provide strategic Ecosystem Insights, then this is the role for you. Please note that this role is Harwell based with up to 2/3 days working from home. On occasion, we expect our NCC team members to travel for face-to-face meetings and events across the UK as required.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

- Experience in a Business Administration, Economics, or Accounting role (desirable)
- Comfortable developing accurate content and presenting to internal and external parties (desirable)
- A good understanding of the relationship between innovation, local and regional development, and economic growth (desirable)
- Knowledge of the relevant UK government agencies and departments involved in levelling up and Space cluster development and their UK strategic priorities (desirable)
- Experience with web scraping tools, coding languages (Python, R), business intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI), Microsoft Dynamics 365, and Application Programming Interface (API) development (desirable)

- You support the delivery of a comprehensive and accurate database which drives Ecosystem Mapping activities and tools, incorporating industrial, academic, and infrastructure capabilities which include:
- Effective data management: Adding and classifying data, overseeing quality assurance and data validation, organising and storing data; Implementing processes needed to map and monitor UK Space Sector growth accurately;
DATA MODELLING AND ANALYSIS:
- Supporting thought leadership on UK Space Sector growth driven by insights from the UK Space Ecosystem and policy landscape with statistical, economic, and data modelling techniques and tools;
- Conducting market trends research and surveys, and analysing data to identify patterns of potential strengths and opportunity areas for the UK Space Sector and provide recommendations as appropriate.
- Supporting the creation and maintenance of tools and dataset tailored to internal and external audience / user needs, to support and respond to ecosystem growth priorities, and impact monitoring and evaluation.
- You have developed a good understanding of the capabilities of the UK Space Ecosystem including industrial, academic, and infrastructure capabilities.
- You support the National Capabilities & Clusters Team to work effectively with the Space Ecosystem Managers, Mission Leads, Strategic Account Directors, and external ecosystem stakeholders maintaining robust and relevant capabilities expertise and identifying strengths and weaknesses in the UK Space Sector Supply Chain including delivering bespoke Supply Chain Mapping reports for the Missions.
- You will have fed into the Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems to effectively capture insights on ecosystem relationships for internal and external stakeholders.
- You will have supported the Ecosystem Insights Lead to provide insights and market intelligence for the Strategic Account Directors to enable them to increase uptake of Space and Satellite enabled applications.
You will support the Ecosystem Insight Lead to work with Service Delivery to respond to requests for bespoke commissions for data and / or analysis of the Space Ecosystem.
