Description:

Overview:
This is role is intended to function as a Junior Asset Manager, Hydro meeting specific qualifications and timebound developmental role needs to make the transition to a fully functional Hydro Asset Manager.
Reporting to the Director, Energy South Operations, as an expert in the Corporation’s hydro assets, the Jr Hydro Asset Manager is a primary driver in improving system reliability and developing cost effective maintenance solutions within the hydro operating division. An asset manager is active in identifying, inventorying, monitoring, and analysing each asset through its full life cycle.

Responsibilities:

  • The Jr. Asset Manager conducts ongoing asset assessments and analysis using various measurement techniques and data sources to recommend and support business decisions for system and equipment maintenance, replacement, or disposal of hydro, substation and backup thermal generation plant assets.
  • The Jr. Asset Manager Identifies divisional investment requirements, leading initial definition and scoping, including investment justification, timing, and business case analysis
  • The Jr. Asset Manager uses internal and external (consultant) resources to perform inspections and Asset Condition and Risk Assessments (ACRAs). The Asset Manager leads and develops NTPC’s Investment Recognition Forms (PRF) process for Hydro assets, including dams and standby integrated thermal generation plants, in the Corporations capital program in conjunction with the Projects and Engineering and Finance Divisions. Plans for community and power system needs, assesses performance, risks, and opportunities by developing the hydro asset component of NTPCs Power System Plan (PSP) including the integration of solar, wind and other renewable generation technologies as required.
  • The Jr. Asset Manager supports the Reliability Improvement Committee prioritization of major maintenance work, reliability issues, and potential engineering studies
  • The Jr. Asset Manager is current with industry leading practices and performance standards and applies these to support the ongoing development and implementation of system and asset specific maintenance and asset management techniques.
  • The Jr. Asset Manager is the Energy South Operations Division champion for the development of strategic and tactical maintenance plans with the utilization of the Corporation’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to improve overall business results by researching and facilitating the implements of best practice in maintenance management.
  • Monitors asset performance using KPIs and recommends changes to asset management policy, framework and processes as required.
  • Operates as a supervisor and mentor for direct reports, which includes, setting objectives, assigning duties, assessing, and managing individual performance, with the aim of delivering results. This position requires a high degree of autonomy, confidentiality, business decorum and strategic business acumen.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of four years of experience in either design engineering or project management or a combination of both.
  • Must be an EIT and eligible for registration with NAPEG.
  • Must have one year of supervisory experience in supervising, planning, coaching, development, and coordinating the work of others. Supervisory experience includes, but is not limited to, responsibility of hiring, directly assigning work to, assessing the performance of employees or contractors.
  • Must have one year direct field experience in either Maintenance or Operations or both combined.
  • Within one year of role acceptance incumbent must complete all components of the development plan allowing for movement to Asset Manager, Hydro.
  • Knowledge in Asset Management in an electrical utility
  • Accomplished computer skills (MS Office Suite, MS Project, Outlook, etc.) and ability to apply relevant design software.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Above average interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience with operation and maintenance of assets situated in a remote environment.
  • Must undergo a successful criminal record check.

Salary for this position ranges from $69.96/hr-$87.46/hr. plus location and accommodation allowances of approximately $8,032 per annum.
