JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a key member of the Maintenance teams, the Jr. Automation Engineer plays an integral role in assisting with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automation machinery. This position is also responsible for assisting with ensuring automation projects are completed accurately, on time, and within budget. The Jr. Automation Engineer shares the responsibility and authority of the Equipment process with the Automation Engineer and the Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications:

  • High-school diploma or equivalent internal testing and/or demonstrated work experience
  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and experience with ISO 9001 and ISO/TS 16949 certification systems preferred but not mandatory
  • Strong presentation, written and verbal skills
  • Strong morals and ethics, along with a commitment to staff privacy
  • Knowledge and experience with laser welding
  • Experienced with a Japanese working environment is considered an asset
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email
  • Superior attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Professional appearance and manners
  • Knowledge of PLC Programming and troubleshooting
  • Is signed up for an apprenticeship and is working towards a 442A electrical license or equivalen

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with troubleshooting and installation of electrical systems/machinery
  • Assist with repairing and maintaining existing equipment
  • Assist in directing and coordinating manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications and customer requirements
  • Perform detailed calculations and observe operations to ensure conformance to designed and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards
  • Assist with overseeing project production efforts to ensure projects are completed accurately, on time and within budget
  • Compiles data and writes reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects
  • Comply with regulatory and employment concerns
  • Ensure that all levels of safety are implemented into each automation change
  • Take ownership of customer issues and follow up with a “customer is right” attitude
  • Help to maintain an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, and high performance
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies
  • Takes direction comfortably, able to multi task, managing time efficiently to obtain optimum results
  • Maintain 5S
  • Other duties as required
