Description:
Remote, long term contract role with a major Financial Services firm.
The Junior AWS Developer will aid in the design and implementation of modernizing our actuarial IT infrastructure. They will work directly with our IT development team optimizing our future actuarial systems architecture using AWS cloud services. The Junior AWS Developer will need to meet periodically with our actuarial business partners in periodic planning sessions and standups.
The job responsibilities include:
- Design new and modernize existing applications in support of the Actuarial Transformation initiative
- Work with development teams and product owners/managers to build software solutions.
- Implement solutions using AWS cloud services.
- Write effective APIs.
- Work with large volumes of data in both relational and No SQL databases.
- Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software
- Create security and data protection settings
- Write technical documentation
- Work with actuaries and analysts to elicit requirements for software development.
Your Desired Skills:
- College Degree with one of the following preferred majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, or relevant field.
- A strong understanding of Object-Oriented design concepts, data structures, and algorithms
- Practical coding experience, with a strong preference in Python, Pyspark, Java, and JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Node.js)
· Strong knowledge of developing Restful Services and APIs utilizing Python or Java. · Strong knowledge of the AWS Cloud ecosystem and Lambda Services
- Fundamental knowledge using SQL
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- An analytical mind with a willingness to learn
Other Comments: Experience with insurance industry and/or actuarial systems and processes is a plu
