The Business Analysis function supports the ERM Program Office for CNL. The business analyst role will provide multiple data analyses on project performance, upcoming planning submissions, and forecasts provided by the ERM Project teams. The data is required to be presented in multiple dashboards (Power Bi) that meet the ERM Mission requirements for the executive staff and also add value to the project teams in support of their detailed analysis below the project level. The goal of this role is to support driving continuous improvements to the planning process and reporting in the most efficient manner, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
What will you be doing!

The Business Analyst is responsible for supporting the development of the Budgets through Trend Management for the Annual Plan of Work and Budget (APWB) and other planning documentation for the ERM Mission. The Business Analysis will also perform routine monthly performance analysis and support reporting initiatives for the ERM Mission with a focus on efficiency in automated outputs to support continuous improvements.

  • Creating and Maintaining Power BI Dashboards and Data Models.
  • Maintaining SharePoint sites.
  • Updating requirements for the prioritizing and content of projects.
  • Gather and compile data from various software systems and databases.
  • Analyze and interpret data to generate comprehensive reports.
  • Preparing the financial budgeting plans for the Program, and establishing a cost monitoring process for monthly and quarterly reporting.
  • Analyze the project forecasts (trends), and monitor Project Baseline Change Proposals to assist decision-making on in-year budgetary changes for the financial impact on the ERM funding profile.
  • The preparation of reports to the management team.
  • Develop and monitor the organization’s budget, and schedules, prepare monthly financial reports, and support reviews on the financial performance explanations.
  • Assisting the line organizations with the analysis of Performance and Cost data reports and variances on a monthly basis.
  • Preparing Earned Value Management System (EVM), financial and business operations/performance reports for management, to clearly articulate emerging issues and communicate planned courses of action.
  • Providing support and assistance to Control Account Managers (CAMS) to ensure effective and timely project execution.
  • Undertaking administration of various items on an as needed basis (e.g. Annual Budgeting); and maintaining records from meetings. Manage information and ensure that accurate and sufficient documentation exists.
  • Participating in the creation and/or continuous improvement of processes for the Program.
  • Support management in leading annual operational planning including development of Improvement plans/planning documents and cost monitoring models.
  • Ability to travel when needed for important site meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

Education:

  • University Degree in Business Administration, Commerce or any other related subject.
  • Competence and successful experience in planning, budgeting, and reporting within a team environment.
  • Candidates must have experience working with multi-disciplinary subjects/topics involving organizing, planning, coordinating, assessing, analyzing, and presenting information and ideas.

Experience:

  • Experience working with different systems and large amounts of data.
  • Experience in reviewing strategic issues/topics and developing and writing business plans, reports, presentation packages, briefing notes, and annotated agendas.
  • Experience working with business planning and administration. Knowledge of business planning and reporting methodologies would be a significant advantage.
  • Experience with Program level Analysis is an asset.

JOB/INDUSTRY SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of PMBOK or a similar industry standard for project management is an asset
  • Knowledge of technical data coding/formulas required to produce dashboard-type reports from a system gathering data verse is an asset.
    Security clearance eligibility required:
    Level 2 Secret which has a minimum requirement of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom .
