Junior Buyer

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Junior Buyer is responsible for facilitating the effective ordering of products and services and for ensuring the supply commitments and business needs are met. In additional, the Junior Buyer supports a variety of employees within the organization to clarify needs, evaluate and or determine suppliers, place orders and sustain ongoing and successful supplier interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING):

1. Post-secondary education in Purchasing or Supply Chain or related field
2. CSCP, CPIM, SCMP or similar designation ( or working towards) is an asset
3. 1-3 years’ experience as a Purchasing Assistant or Junior Buyer within a Manufacturing environment
4. MRO (Maintenance, Repairs, Operations) purchasing experience an asset

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES

• Good understanding of supply chain procedures
• Strong computer skills with an emphasis on MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook and Word)
• Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously with a focus on customer service and responsiveness
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as a member of a cross functional team
• Ability to follow an established policies and procedures
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
• Proficient in negotiating with vendors and suppliers for best possible outcomes
• Strong ability to be analytical and problem solve
