Description:

Post available to commence working in Paediatric Surgery, at ST 1-2 level on the middle grade rota.
The duty is a 2 nd on call rota.
The post does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean, but the post holders will have the some teaching and training opportunities alongside four other Higher Specialist Trainees and four other Core Surgical Trainees
Please note the successful candidates must be available to start in September 2024.
The work of the Paediatric Surgical Unit encompasses the management of new-born infants and children with congenital malformations and other surgical conditions. The Neonatal Surgical Unit is a Regional Centre dealing with over 150 new cases each year. The pre-operative assessment, operative treatment and post-operative intensive care of these infants are of vital importance. The general paediatric surgical work covers the wide variety of surgical conditions encountered in this age group including Urology, Surgical Gastroenterology, Thoracic surgery and Oncology all with an emphasis on Minimal access techniques.
Sheffield Children’s is one of three independent, specialist paediatric hospitals in the country, providing dedicated healthcare for children and young people across community, mental health and acute specialist settings.
