Description:

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust has an international reputation for high quality patient care, education and research and its partnership with the Institute of Cancer Research has created the largest comprehensive centre in Europe.
Following successful promotion the opportunity has arisen for an junior Uro-Oncology Nurse, at Band 6, to join us to provide support, patient education and advice to patients with a wide variety of Urology cancers, from diagnosis, through treatment and follow-up.
This part time role, will be based in Sutton and focussing on patients with Uro-Oncological cancers following oncological pathways. The post holder will be providing nursing support and advice for patients, wards and colleagues. The post holder will have commitments to providing care in both the Private and NHS settings.
The successful post holder should have experience at in the field of Uro-Oncology cancers as well as a urology or oncology qualification.
The successful post holder will have excellent interpersonal skills and a professional manner, be able to prioritise and organise their workload and work under pressure.
You will be expected to work autonomously in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

To assist in the provision of professional and clinical leadership and expertise in the care of the patient under your care, acting as a resource and consultant to provide information and support to patients, carers and staff.
To liaise effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary health care team so as to achieve a synchronised specialist service.
To develop or contribute to the formulation of patient information.
To develop or contribute to the formulation of policies.
To provide informal and formal teaching, for patients, staff and carers as relevant e.g. academic courses provided by The School.

These responsibilities will be carried out under the guidance of the shift co-ordinator.
To sustain a high-quality specialist service for the patient, from diagnosis through all stages of the disease. In particular to provide support, education, and counselling advice on treatment related issues with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. To collaborate with Cancer Care teams, both within The Trust and with primary and acute care providers to ensure a streamlined patient-centred care pathway.
In collaboration with the Lead Nurse, Lead CNS, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists, and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, formulate and/or revise relevant policies and guidelines, and to regularly review them following changes/implementation.
