Description:
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Sperling Industries has clients that supply PDF drawings for steel production. The Junior Detailer role we are seeking to fill will require an individual to reproduce steel components from PDF drawings into Autodesk Inventor in order to provide our fabrication facilities with part drawings, CNC files, and other submittal requirements. This position requires attention to detail and the successful applicant must be able to perform self quality checks on a routine basis. The position also requires knowledge of dstv, nc1, and dxf file paths, and the successful candidate must know how to rename, edit, and verify these filetypes.
While this position is geared towards an entry level individual, it is expected that the role progresses with time. The intent is to develop experience so that the candidate can eventually create and design projects independently.
The position is based out of our offices in Sperling, MB. Monday to Friday starting at 7AM. OT and weekend work may be required on an infrequent basis. Travel may be required to perform site visits.
Our team utilizes the latest in technology such as 3d point cloud scanning solutions in order to execute our projects. The designer is expected to be capable and eager to learning new technology.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Design and Project Management Team, and/or customers directly, to fully understand project requirements and customer needs
- Model and draft steel components based on customer provided drawings.
- Perform Project Management duties as required such as estimating, scheduling and coordination.
- Create and organize complete work packages and instructions for fabrication. Provide supplementary instruction to downstream personnel as needed for efficient and quality execution.
- Communication with fabrication shops is required.
- Candidate must be willing to learn and take on new challenges
- Must be able to work as a member of a team
- Must be able to read drawings and communicate graphically
- Experience in Structural and/or Mechanical disciplines in an industrial sector is an asset
- Candidate must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Written and Verbal Communication proficiency in English is required
- Post secondary education in a Drafting or Engineering Technologist Program is an asset
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD is an asset
