JUNIOR ECOLOGY EXPERT

We are hiring! LAND Italia is looking for a passionate Junior Ecology Expert fluent in Italian and English to join our innovative team in the heart of Milan.
The selected candidate will work on ecosystem services assessment, biodiversity mapping and ecology restoration actions within wider research activities and landscape projects. Applicants must demonstrate expertise, curiosity and multidisciplinary attitude. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule interchanging activities in the office, on the field and from remote.
The position might be part-time and opens from September 2024.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

• Strong multi-lingual communication skills in Italian and possibly English.
• Availability to work and take part to activities in Milan and on the project sites.
• A degree in Natural Sciences or Ecology or Agronomy or similar disciplines.
• 1-3 years of experience in the field.
• Extensive knowledge of the Italian regulations in terms of environmental permissions, ecological assessment and restoration (VIA, VAS, VINCA).
• Good environmental analysis skills, and technical proficiency in Office, GIS and other relevant assessment software (e.g. iTree, InVEST, ENVI-met).
• Good organizational, time management, and initiative qualities.

• Develop environmental studies to compliment and support landscape design in the field of natural sciences, ecosystem assessment and biodiversity enhancement.
• Draw maps and ideate narrative materials exploring their interaction with digital technologies (e.g. sensors and AI).
• Carry out site surveys to assess and monitor biodiversity and ecological conditions before and after project completion.
• Collaborate with the design teams and the LAND Research Lab to develop innovative solutions for more liveable ecosystems and novel consulting services to reach the ambitious goals of the European Nature Restoration Law and similar policies.
