SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Having graduated with a post-secondary degree or technical diploma, in biology, environmental science, or a related discipline
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Able to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, regulators, and co-workers
  • Willing to; travel, being away from home, working a field rotational shift schedule, and working for up to 10-12 hours per day
  • Being reasonably physically fit and able to conduct field work in all weather conditions (standing, walking, moving, and bending)
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Being able to work as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s licence from a Canadian province or territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting
  • Experience operating a 4x4 truck is considered an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting biologists with water quality, fish, wildlife, and vegetation assessments
  • Supporting environmental monitoring of construction work activities
  • Mobilizing and maintaining field gear and equipment
  • Supporting bird nest sweeps or fish and/or amphibian salvages, as a crew member
  • Collecting, compiling data and reporting data
  • Attending project and safety meetings
  • Promoting safety culture and complying with safety protocols
  • Liaising with clients, regulators, and contractors
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, operators, contractors and regulator
