The Junior Finance Analyst opportunity is an exciting permanent and full-time position based on a hybrid basis from our beautiful Bristol city centre office. Working as part of our core Financial Planning & Analysis team, we offer career development, and we will support you in obtaining formal qualifications (CIMA / ACCA).
You’ll be joining a welcoming team, who are supportive and friendly. In your day-to-day role you will be involved in reporting and analysis work, and you will support members of the wider finance team. You’ll learn core accounting skills and work with established MI reporting templates, you’ll also be responding to ad hoc requests for targeted analysis from stakeholders around the business, including senior stakeholders.
This role will suit an individual who is curious and ambitious, we desire a candidate who has a keen interest in interrogating our systems to create reports using SQL queries and Excel models.

Have an Honours degree (first class or 2:1), preferably in a numerate subject (or equivalent) A Levels or equivalent vocational study and an interest in pursuing an accountancy qualification such as CIMA or ACCA. You will also possess:

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, a proactive approach to tasks and willingness to get into the details.
  • Good organisation skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Excellent eye for detail.
  • Ability to work and communicate well within a team.
  • Good Excel skills (XLookup, Sumifs, etc)
  • Experience of delivering to tight deadlines.
  • SQL experience would be an advantage
  • An awareness of accounting principles would be beneficial but not essential

Responsibilities:

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Providing analysis and support as required to the Financial Planning & Analysis team and senior finance members.
  • Work with the FP&A Manager and the Finance Analyst to deliver standard management information reporting pack in line with existing month end processes. Prepare journal entries and perform balance sheet reconciliations to ensure management accounts accurately reflect business activity.
  • Assist in the production of monthly KPI reporting which is reliable and efficient, from available data within the Financial and HR systems. This will cover billing, WIP, open debt, matters opened, and direct costs. These KPI reports are delivered through a combination of Excel models and SQL queries.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis across the 20 fee earning teams and 8 support function teams as requested by the Finance Controller and Finance Director as well as responding to requests from across the business.
  • Support the Finance Analyst and FP&A Manager during the production, and collation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist in the production of external reports such as ONS requests and Payment Practices reporting.
  • Assist with the continuous development of the existing reporting suite, which may include input in the design and testing of reports and dashboards.

OTHER TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily cashflow reporting to Senior Management.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to other members of the management accounting team, helping to cover holidays, absences or busy periods including: Setting up ad hoc bank payments & Reviewing scheduled bank payments.
