As the Junior Financial Accountant, you will support the NZ business of Fisher & Paykel Appliances & our NZ Customer Experience businesses to achieve our Targets, pursue our Leading Goals & achieve this by demonstrating our core values of curiosity and generosity.
You will support the local and global Finance teams to perform operational and transactional requirements in an efficient, accurate and timely manner. Providing timely and relevant financial information and including monthly accounts, quarterly forecasts, and annual budgets.
The position is part of a team of nine finance staff providing business unit accounting, budgeting, inventory management, pricing, customer services and commercial support in our NZ business unit.
Financial Management

Ownership of the financial accounting of inventory including:

  • Maintaining the correct standard cost in the system
  • Monitoring the inventory integrity reports
  • Monthly inventory revaluation of both stock on hand and goods in transit-
  • Partnering with the stock controller to ensure maintenance of cycle count process
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Using the automated bank reconciliation tool to maintain the reconciliation throughout the month
  • Proactively raising any reconciliation issues with finance manager and other key stakeholders
  • Capitalisation of display assets
  • Partnering with the in-store experience team to ensure timely capitalisation of the display assets
  • Own the budget and forecast process for capitalisation in line with accounting standards

Financial and Management Accounting and Reporting

  • Supporting the accuracy and integrity of financial processes and reporting of financial statements.
  • Supporting the finance team to prepare the monthly and annual (audited) accounts of the business unit, including supporting the preparation of business reports and presentations as required.
  • Taking a continuous improvement approach, always looking for efficiencies in the reporting process.
  • Maintaining the PowerBI reports and help support any troubleshooting.
  • Initiative support to drive Operational benefits
  • Support commercial & functional teams to track performance KPIs for Initiatives for improved future performance.
  • Offer key support to Finance Manager to assist with projects on an ad-hoc basis

That’s the role, so who are you?
Ideally you will be a Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) member and have already put your hard-earned qualification to work in a business environment.
You’ll demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, an ability to grasp and understand complex business issues and translate to non-financial personnel, a customer facing aptitude (including internal stakeholders), an ability to time manage competing demands.
You’ll be self-motivated and display initiative, a true ‘self-starter’, proactive and solutions focused. Importantly you will work collaboratively to deliver a successful outcome for the business.
