ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

· Mathematical and analytical skills, and proficiency with Excel and data analysis software (either off-the-shelf packages or self-scripted using Python, C++, etc.)
· Understanding of drone flight dynamics and control, along with operating principles of onboard sensors and subsystems
· Organisational skills to keep track of engineering changes on aircraft, standard operating procedures and resources for future flight tests
· Communication skills and an ability to explain technical details in a concise and expert manner. An important aspect of the role involves promoting the capability of the product to interested parties and potential customers

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

· Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable engineering field, or equivalent work experience, e.g. Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering
· Experience of engineering experience working with autonomous systems, preferably UAVs (professional or hobby setting)
· Experience using Mission Planner and/or QGround Control
· Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition systems
· Experience handling lithium-ion and lithium polymer batteries, as well as operating high voltage equipment safely
· Adept use of hands-on equipment for quick repair, modification and testing (e.g. hand tools, multi-meters, power supply units)
· Software development experience, well-versed in protocols like Serial, I2C, and CAN, with the ability to support sensor and actuator integration as well as other subsystems
· Machine automation exposure including use of sensors; EO, lidar, radar sensors
· Knowledgeable about mesh radios and their configuration, including frequencies and bandwidth

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We require a junior flight test engineer to work in conjunction with our highly skilled Pilots to test the airworthiness and reliability of our heavy-lift autonomous aircraft and ground control station equipment, both established and prototype. Also to assist in conducting demo flights and trials both in the UK and overseas to evaluate performance and demonstrate capability to our customers.
You will be assisting Malloy’s flight team and experienced technicians and engineers of various disciplines to test, evaluate and demonstrate cutting edge technologies.

WHAT YOU’LL BEING DOING:

· Monitoring aircraft telemetry data in flight and providing crucial feedback during flight to remote Pilots regarding flight operation
· Attend trials and perform demo flights with potential customers on and off site (UK and Abroad)
· Identify possible issues with complex systems involving electrical and electro-mechanical devices on aircraft and test fixtures, as well as ground control software
· Review and analyse flight logs methodically to assess aircraft performance and airworthiness
· Ensure flight logs and additional test data are maintained daily
· Ensure all aircraft operations are conducted smoothly and safely
· Collect and analyse experimental flight data to support future systems integration and engineering research and development
