What you’ll be doing
JUNIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER JOB DESCRIPTION
GGA is seeking innovative and talented Junior Interior Designers with a Professional degree in Interior Design (i.e., BID) from an accredited program to join our team of design professionals and industry-leading technical staff. GGA’s integrated design studio is an exciting professional environment, supported by active mentoring with opportunities to lead small to medium-sized projects. The successful candidate will be disciplined, creative and an enthusiastic individual who is able to translate our client’s requirements into exciting architectural propositions, reflecting our pursuit of sustainable design excellence, which includes:
- Work with the design and architectural technology teams
- Work on multiple projects at a time
- Taking direction from supervisory team members
- Prepare high quality presentation material for project meetings
- Provide design input by developing plans, models, renders etc.
- Prepare meeting summaries and work to established project schedules
- Gain familiarity with current design trends, building systems and presentation techniques
- Liaise with consultants, clients, project managers, product vendors and approving authorities.
- Prepare working drawings and detail drawings for all projects in Revit
- Other design tasks as required
QUALITIES & MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The chosen Junior Interior Designer candidate must possess:
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- A degree in interior design (BID) from an accredited institution
- A professional and energetic attitude
- Knowledge of Alberta Building Codes
- Highly Organized
- Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for collaboration and teamwork.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- An ability to work on multiple projects
- Effective time management skills and an ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Strong self-motivation and excellent critical thought
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong attention to detail and time-management skills
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Have a solid understanding of current planning theories and best practices
- Works well independently and in a collaborative environment
