POSITION OVERVIEW:

We’re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior / Intermediate Estimator or Structural Engineer to join our team. This full-time role is critical to the success of our projects, with a primary focus on structural components, material assessments, and cost estimation, while also involving mechanical aspects as needed. You will be responsible for analyzing project scopes, preparing accurate and competitive estimates, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficiency and precision in execution. This position offers opportunities for growth into senior roles within the company.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Related post-secondary education or construction supervision background (Diploma/Degree/Field Experience).
  • Industrial job site experience is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with Accubid and Blue Beam is considered an asset.
  • Understanding and knowledge of scheduling.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Certifications such as PMP, P.Eng, or relevant industry certifications are an asset.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Review project scopes of work to gain a comprehensive understanding of the requirements.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to clarify scope details and requirements.
  • Perform detailed material takeoffs to ensure all necessary materials are accounted for in project estimates.
  • Conduct field walks to assess project sites and gather necessary data for accurate estimations.
  • Assist in project planning, including the development of project schedules and timelines.
  • Develop detailed execution methodologies based on project specifications and scope.
  • Optimize construction methods in collaboration with project managers and engineers.
  • Support the creation of high-level project schedules, considering critical milestones and dependencies.
  • Collaborate with scheduling and planning teams to align estimates with project timelines.
  • Proactively identify potential risks and uncertainties in project execution.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate risks through effective clarification and contingency planning.
  • Utilize industry-standard estimating tools and software, such as Accubid and Blue Beam, to prepare accurate project cost estimates.
  • Analyze historical data and benchmarking to ensure the competitiveness of the estimates, particularly in piping and structural projects.
  • Work closely with procurement and finance teams to ensure estimates align with budgetary constraints.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on project requirements.
