We are seeking a full-time Junior/Intermediate Materials Engineer in our Saint John, NB office.
The successful candidate will have the following:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Currently registered, or eligible to register as an Engineer-in-Training or as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers New Brunswick.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited University.
- 3 to 10 years of experience in civil engineering consulting.
- Working in aconcrete, asphalt, soils and aggregates laboratory
- Managing materials testing projects and / or a laboratory
- Training laboratory and field testing and sampling of soils, aggregates, asphalt and concrete
- Extensive familiarity with CCIL certification criteria and methodologies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- CCIL certifications for testing concrete, aggregates, and asphalt are considered to be an asset
Responsibilities:
- Laboratory testing of aggregates, soil, asphalt, and concrete.
- Various office, laboratory, and field tasks related to materials testing, geotechnical engineering, and environmental engineering.
- Field testing and sampling of aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt.
- Recording test data and preparing factual reports, summaries, data sheets or graphs for interpretation of test results.
- Managing civil engineering projects, particularly materials testing
- Communicating with the project team and external clients concerning laboratory test results.
- Collaborate with the project team to troubleshoot and resolve any materials-related issues.
- Training junior staff on laboratory and filed testing of aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt
- Maintain and calibrate testing equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Performing other related duties as required.
