SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Understand company safety regulations and relevant occupational health and safety legislation.
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of processes in factory
  • Demonstrated problem solving and priority planning capabilities.
  • Effective Communication for General Production staff and ability to work with operators, and management.
  • Proactivity, creativity and initiative for continually reducing down time, fall down and working to improve General Production workers, and Operator’s knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO

This position is responsible for supporting production through the maintenance of equipment and machines utilized to produce quality products at or below standard cost.
To meet the job requirements the Junior maintenance technician must be able to sit, stand, walk to lift (50lbs) from floor to overhead, carrying, crawl under, crawl over, crouch, bend / twist/turn, gripping, use ladders, reach, climb stairs or any combination of these physical requirements to be able to repair the various equipment in multiple locations around the facility. These physical demands may be short or long term based on the nature of the repair.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintaining preventative maintenance program for equipment and machines.
  • Promotion of teamwork amongst the entire plant to keep operations efficient.
  • Read, understand, and follow all Safe Work Practices for machinery and equipment.
  • Fabrication of engineered hazard controls. (ie. Guards)
  • Have at least 1 year of experience as an Junior Maintenance Technician or in similar environment

HEALTH & SAFETY PROGRAM DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read and understand each of the following, and initial below when complete (sign forms/documents where required);
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain all PPE in good condition.
  • Report all damaged tools or equipment to supervisor or Tag-Out and return to the Maintenance Department. DO NOT USE ANY DEFECTIVE TOOLS!
  • Carry out all work in a safe manner that will not create a hazard.
  • Active participation as a member of the Health & Safety Committee (voluntary).
  • Cooperate with your supervisor(s) to foster a safe work environment.
  • Immediately report all accidents, incidents, near misses and/or all First Aid or Medical Aid injuries, regardless of severity, to the area supervisor.
  • Comply with company medical and first aid procedures.
  • Participate in the company safety program and make any safety suggestions that will improve the safety program or increase awareness.
  • Set a good example for fellow workers by following all safety rules, policies and procedures.
  • Attend and actively participate in all required safety training and meetings.
  • If at any time you are unsure about the safe operation or completion of a task, ask your immediate supervisor before commencing the job.
