    Job Description
    Our R&D Team loves to challenge the status quo and has a passion for success on the job - and beyond.     Techo-Bloc is looking for a highly motivated R&D Mechanical Engineer who will bring his ideas to life by designing, assembling, testing, and coordinating the installation of his prototypes. He will, amongst other things, participate in updating the drawings of replacement parts, improve production equipment, carry out purchases and support his fellow designers and engineers.

In this role, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop & create 3D CAD models of mechanical systems and parts for new equipment;
  • Identify improvements to be made on production lines to increase safety and efficiency;
  • Find improvement solutions;
  • Support the implementation of new processes;
  • Validate designs, calculations, simulations;
  • Perform tolerance testing of mechanical parts and assemblies;
  • Analyze & help solve technical problems;
  • Optimize current equipment to increase production efficiencies;
  • Prepare test bench marking;
  • Procurement of parts, obtaining best prices and best lead times;
  • Participate in the physical assembly of equipment and prototypes;
  • Supervise and mentor other engineers/designers and mechanics;
  • Participate in project timeline & budget building.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Cumulate minimum 2 of experience in mechanical engineering/design;
  • Having completed a University degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Must be an engineer-in-training (EIT) or member of the OIQ (Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec);
  • Have the capacity to work on multiple projects in a fast turnaround environment;
  • Have an excellent expertise of SolidWorks;
  • Have an innovative mind and the ability to work as a team;
  • Previous experience with conveyor systems;
  • Be available to travel occasionally in Quebec, Ontario and the USA (20% of the time);
  • Bilingual English/French – spoken and written (English is necessary to serve our customers in the USA);
  • Previous experience or knowledge in welding, machining or other metalworking will be considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of the concrete industry, an asset but not required. Training will be provided.
